Let Freedom Ring
The Liberty Bell is in Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Pa. It rang on July 8, 1776 to announce the adoption of the Declaration of Independence by the Continental Congress. This ringing summoned the citizens to hear the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence. The bell was forged in England at the Whitechapel Foundry. It arrived in the U.S. on September 1, 1754. The Bell cracked the first time it rang. The crack is ½ inch wide and 24.5 inches long.
