Parade Registration
The Van Buren Popcorn Festival Committee would like to invite you to participate in our 2009 Popcorn Festival Parade. The parade is on Thursday, August 13th at 6:30pm. The Theme for the 2009 Van Buren Popcorn Festival is "Remember when...reminiscing festivals past." We hope that you will try to incorporate the theme with your entry. Competition will be held with trophies awarded to the top unit in the following categories:
- Best use of the Festival Theme
- Best Clown unit
- Best High School Band
- Best Horse and Pony
- Best Antique Transportation
- Best Antique Tractor
- Best Miscellaneous Unit
- Best Baton Corp
- Best Marching Band
- Best all around Unit
All parade entries MUST be registered with us to be in the parade! If you are interested, please complete the 2009 Parade Registration form and return by July 25, 2009. Late entries will be placed at the back of the parade. The parade is held RAIN OR SHINE.
You are ask to enter on Chester Street (by Van Buren Elementary School). There will be a check-in station at the corner of Chester and Second Street. Line-up and check-in for the parade will begin at 5:15 pm.

Royalty Contest Information
Entrants for the 2009 Festival Royalty Contest need to contact Wendy at (765) 934-9475. The deadline was June 15, 2009 to enter the competition. Classes of royalty are:
- Queen (ages 13-18)
- Junior Princess (ages 6-12)
- Princess (ages 2-5)
- Prince (ages 2-5)
Contestants raise money for the festival to cover expenses such as entertainment, advertising, and insurance. The contestant in each category that raises the most money is the royalty for the annual event. Contestants are awarded prizes for their efforts. This is a festival tradition that began with the first festival in 1973.
Scarecrow Contest Information

Scarecrows must be completed by Wednesday, August 12, 2009, 6:00
p.m. - Scarecrows must be within city limits
- Judging Wednesday night, August 12, 2009
- Winners announced Thursday, August 13, 2009 after the parade

Softball Tournament Registration - Co-Ed Slow Pitch
If you are interested, please complete the Softball Tournament Registration and return no later than August 1, 2009. Late registrations will be considered.
- Date: August 15 & 16, 2009 Start Time: 11:00 AM
- Fee: $100/Team or $10 Individual (Both are nonrefundable)
- Team must play at least four females
- Each team must supply an umpire/scorekeeper
- Participants need picture ID with date of birth
- Must be 18 yrs. or older
- Must use same roster entire tourney
- Please bring canned/boxed goods for local food pantry or other necessities.
- VBYS is not responsible for injuries or damaged, lost, or stolen property
